How to: Change the default chart format in Excel.
Solution:
Select 'Options...' from the 'Tools' menu, click the 'Chart' tab, and select the new default chart format.
NOTE: The default chart format for Excel is a 2-D column chart with a legend.
1) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'. (The Options dialog box appears.)
2) Click 'Chart' tab.
3) Select the new default chart format from the 'Default Chart Format' drop-down list.

4) Click 'OK'.
NOTE: The new default format will be applied to every new chart created except embedded charts. For an embedded chart, the 'Built-in' (predefined) format is ALWAYS used.
